Business Resource CenterThis collection features print and electronic materials in the library's collection. The Business Resource Center is in collaboration with Northern Lakes Economic Alliance. Digital Collections The digital collections consist of downloadable Audiobooks, ebooks, newspapers, and magazines for patrons 24/7. They can be downloaded to a laptop, PC or compatible devices from inside the library or from home. A valid library card in good standing is required to use this service. Boundless contains digital books, audios, newspapers and magazines. Up North Digital Collections contains digital books, audios, and magazines. Local History/Genealogy Collection/Digitalized Indexed NewspapersThis collection is comprised of books, (mainly New England States). Newspapers are available in digital indexed images Newspapers include: East Jordan News Herald (1902-1904), Charlevoix County Herald (1907-1953), East Jordan News Herald (1956-1967), Charlevoix County Press (1978-1991), East Jordan Journal (1992-2003), The Citizen Journal (2003 - 2009), Charlevoix County Press (2009 - 2011) and Charlevoix County News (2009- 2024) which all are able to print to the public copier for 20 cents a copy. Ancestry Library database service for genealogy is available to our patrons. In library use only.Obituary Requests and FeesPatrons may visit the library and view obituaries which are kept in binders. Requests for obituaries can be sent via email or mail.Name and date of death of person you are looking for should be submitted. Internet AccessAgreement to the Computer Use Agreement is required to use the library's public internet computers. Wireless Internet Service is available in the library as well as outside in the parking lot. Connection is automatic with no password required. Connect to JVDL Public.MeLCatMichigan Electronic Library Catalog is available to all Jordan Valley District Library patrons. There are hundreds of libraries in MeLCat with millions of materials to request. Many materials including DVD movies. CD music and books are available at no cost to library patrons. Items that patrons request will be delivered to the library within days. Patrons must use their library card to request items and their account has to be clear of outstanding fines.LIBRARY gift cardGive a LIBRARY gift card to someone who would use library services. Community RoomThe community room is available to non-profit organizations for $50 per day. Organizations that are not non-profit will be charged $100 per day. A Community Room Policy must be filled out by a representative of the organization who must have a valid library card within the library's service area. Equipment available includes:
Art DisplayThe purpose of the hanging art collection is to display local talent in the library. Art is displayed throughout the library for two months. Artists may sell their works by leaving their business cards with a phone number to be contacted.Display CasesLibrary has two display cases for displaying items of interest, services, events, etc.Income Tax FormsEach year the library receives federal and state tax forms. They are located in the entrance way of the library during tax season. A reproducible manual is available in the reference area in which unique forms may be found. Tours & VisitsTours are given to groups who make reservations in advance. The tour must be pre-arranged, but your group is welcome to come and browse informally if a tour is not necessary. Staff are available to speak to groups or organizations about our services and collections.Northland Library CooperativeThe library is a member of the Northland Library Cooperative. As a member it receives services throughout the year to help with continuing education units, technology services, and summer reading entertainment. |
